一份文件,如果員工看不懂,它存在的意義是什麼? SOP 設計的初衷很簡單:讓一個什麼都不懂的新進員工,在沒有人從旁指導的情況下,光靠這份文件,就能理解 70~80% 的作業流程。 但現實是翻開許多工廠的作業指導書,ISO 條款引用、專業術語堆疊、四號字密密麻麻。 在稽核現場,我習慣做一個簡單的測試:把 SOP 交給作業員,請他們說明這份文件在講什麼。那個當下,文件的真實品質就出來了。
A document employees can't understand — what is its purpose? The original intent of an SOP is simple: a brand-new employee, with no guidance, should be able to understand 70–80% of the workflow just from reading it. But in reality, many factory work instructions are packed with ISO clause references, stacked jargon, and dense small text. On site, I have a simple test: hand the SOP to an operator and ask them to explain what it means. In that moment, the true quality of the document reveals itself.

Operators are unaware of the relevant procedures. Supervisors say "we've always done it this way." The abnormality log is blank for weeks. This is not an isolated case — it's a structural issue across Taiwan's SME manufacturing sector. Effective supply chain management cannot stop at document review. On-site observation, staff interviews, and data cross-verification are all essential.

Finding problems is actually good news — as long as a major incident hasn't happened yet, nothing is too bad. The real disaster is when the customer discovers the problem after delivery. Prevention is better than cure. Quality management costs money, but invested in the right place, it saves far more in unnecessary waste.
